Day 273: Pink Gerbera Daisy - Sept 30. Can't believe how quickly this month passed by. Last post for Sept - a lone richly colored pink gerbera daisy stood out yesterday on a walk around the neighborhood. Hate saying goodbye to the summer flowers but looking forward to some colorful fall foliage (hopefully) and fall mums.

Day 272: NYC Cruise Ship Lineup - Sept 29.A view of the upper midtown New York Skyline and cruise ships in port along the Hudson River alongisde the Intrepid Museum. Ships include a Fred Olsen Cruise ship, Carnival Splendor, Aida and Norwegian Breakaway.

Full Moon and Clouds #3 Sept 2015

Day 271: Full Moon and Clouds - Sept 28. The Full Blood Moon of Sept 2015 rising high in the night sky as it breaks through black cloud cover. What an unusual moonrise last night. Skies were cloud-filled and the moon was not visible as it came over the N.Y. Skyline. Managed to get one shot of it as it peeked through an opening of the clouds. Was breaking down my tripod to give up on photos when I decided to wait a bit to see if it would come through again. The skies quickly turned from twilight blue to deep black within 45 minutes, especially in the clouds. Eventually as the moon rose higher and became lighter in color, it broke though the clouds at several points. This is one of about 5 images that I was able to get from start to finish. The eclipse was not visible in the clouds.

Day 270: Waterloo Village General Store and Reflection - Sept 27. .A lovely, tranquil, scenic view of the back of Smith's General Store reflected in the Morris Canal at Historic Waterloo Village in Susex County N.J. with other village buildings in the background.

Shasta Daisy Portrait

Day 269: Shasta Daisy- Sept 26. A close up marcro portrait of a white daisy flower with a yellow center against a dark shaded background. One of the lovely flowers that the fall season provides to help keep our pollinators happy and to grace our end of season gardens.

Monarch Butterfly_DeKorte Park

Day 268: Monarch Butterfly on Butterfly Bush - Sept 25. What a treat late afternoon just before sundown to see this Monarch in N.J. Meadowlands. Only the second one I've seen all season. Maybe there is still hope for the Monarch's. If you have a garden or even a small patch of space in your yard, be sure to plant milkweed plants for them.

Day 267: Obedient Plant - Sept 24. A close up, macro portrait of the flower head of a pink Obedient Plant. One of the prettiest end-of-summer flowers especially in a garden patch where multiple flowers bloom together to create a sea of lavender pink.

Black-eyed susan Togetherness

Day 266: Black-eyed Susans - Sept 23. An image of two black-eyed Susan flowers intertwined closely together with their bright yellow colors standing out against the shadows of an early autumn afternoon. Very few summer blossoms left so I enjoyed seeing these two bright spots of yellow while out for a walk.

Chrysanthemum Display Multi-colored

Day 265: Chrysanthemum Display-Multi-Color - Sept 22. These mum plants were displayed in a large clay pot, more than 3 feet in diameter where several varieties/colors of the fall flowers were planted closely together so that they merged into one another for a very colorful display.

Day 264: Pink Flower Cluster - Sept 21. NOt sure what type of flowers that these late summer pale pink flowers are. I'm thinking a variety of sedum. Can anyone help identify them? Thanks.

Mini-Pumpkin Display

Day 263: Mini-Pumpkin Display - Sept 20. A photograph of a farm market display of mini-pumpkins. The start of the fall season about to begin and pumpkins, squash, chrysanthemums and other fall items are replacing the summer fruits and vegetables at local farm and garden centers.

Day 262: NYC Fog at Sunrise - Sept 19. A foggy, smoggy start to the day on Saturday over the New York Skyline and the Hudson River.

Day 261: Street Art Mural - Sept 18. A section of a mural recently created in my city's business district. It is one of a series of 12 painted along the side of a block long building by two brothers who grew up in this area. As a follow up to my initial post: The murals were painted by Fortoul Brothers, Isaac and Gabriel, which I had noted in the keywords below. The unveiling of their Mural Project was held on September 3, 2015. The brothers were born in Columbia but grew up in Union City where the murals are located. The intent was to portray the diversity of the culture of the city in the art. The faces in all of the murals have the signature white noses. I would like to post more of the murals but chose to only post a section of one of them out of concern about copyright issues. I love their minimalistic, almost primitive, but powerful effect. I did send a note to the artists' email address to request permission to post photos of the murals but have not received a reply. Day 260: Yellow Mums - Sept 17. One of the first signs of the fall season. .A garden display of golden yellow chrysanthemums - my first mum photo of the season. Behind in posting my daily photos and need to get caught up to date.

Italian Bread Basket

Day 259: Italian Bread Basket - Sept 16. A section of a table full of a variety of beautiful crispy, browned Italian breads at a street market. Regular Italian loaves, olive loaves, whole wheat, multi-grain, mozzarella and pepperoni pockets. All so tempting.

Day 258: Window Shopping - Sept 15. Don't know why but I found this amusing and could not resist a quick photograph.

Day 257: Sept 11 Anniversary Flags - Sept 14. Love the story of these flags and seeing them. This is just a small section of more than 2,600 flags inserted in the front lawn of a high school in N.J. The community, students and faculty came together to raise the funds and do the planning to create a display of one flag for every victim of the 9/11 attacks. Each flag had a tag at the bottom of the 30 inch pole with a victim's name. For those not from the USA, their home country flag was used. The students made the labels and inserted the flags in the ground. The flags will be displayed until Sept 23. Quite a moving sight to see. Cedar Knolls High School, Cedar Knolls N.J.

Day 256: NYC Lincoln Center - Sept 13. A view of the plaza of Lincoln Center and the fountain in NYC - digitally enhanced for artistic effect. The two redheads in the lower left corner are my granddaughters.

Day 255: NYC Tribute in Light 9/11 Anniversary - Sept 12. A view of the twin blue beams of the Tribute in Light displayed yesterday on the anniversary of 9/11. This view shows lower Manhattan and One World Trade Center with the Statue of Liberty in the foreground as seen from the New Jersey waterfront at twilight as the lights began to show. Day 254: 9/11 Twin Towers Sculpture - Sept 11. This metal sculpture of the two NYC World Trade Center Towers that were destroyed in the 9/11 attacks is the focus of a small memorial in Richard W. DeKorte Park in the N.J. Meadowlands. It is situation in a way that when one is facing the sculpture tf 'sits' in the exact spot as where one would have seen the original towers across the Hudson River.

Day 253: Snowy Egrets - Sept 10. A group of snowy egrets congregating for feeding at Mill Creek Marsh in the New Jersey Meadowlands.

Day 252: Farm Market Peppers - Sept 9. A display of red, orange, green, yellow and purple peppers was very tempting at a local farm market.

Day 251: Lavender Stock Flower - Sept 8. A spray of lavender Stock flower (aka Gillyflower and Matthiola Incana) with a painted process for artistic effect.

Day 250: NYC Labor Day Red White and Blue - Sept 7. Happy Labor Day to all who are celebrating in the USA. I can't resist taking a photo of the red, white and blue colors of our flag.

Day 249: Painted Bouquet - Sept 6. A section of a beautiful birthday bouquet processed with a paint filter for artistic effect.

Day 248: Marshland Walk Shadows and Light - Sept 5. Lines, angles,shadows and light on a marsh boardwalk.

Day 247: Abstract - Pipe Dreams. - Sept 4. A little photo play after being inside all day with contractors replacing pipes behind two of my walls and those of my neighbor across the hall. No chance to get outside so took a couple photos of the shiny new copper piping. Tues. the crew will be back to insulate the pipes and hopefully close the walls back up. This is part of a large-scale project to replace the pipe lines in all apartments on all floors. I must say the crews doing the work are doing a great job - on schedule, careful, considerate and clean up before they leave.

Day 246: NYC Steamy Sunrise. - Sept 3. Even at sunrise, it was hot and steamy and uncomfortable here to start the day and will only worsen as the day goes on. On A/C in my building for the past few days and no projection as to when it might be fixed. Technicians are working on it. Feel sorry for the children going back to school where there is no A/C in the parts of the country having this hear wave. .

Day 245: NYC Heat Wave Blues. - Sept 2. Early this morning, the smog and heat in the air created this almost completely blue and white view of the New York Skyline. Hot, hot, hot and so humid today.

Day 244: Tear Drop Memorial. - Sept 1. This memorial sculpture created by Russian artist ZurabTsereteli was presented to the United States by the Russian government in recognition of the lives lost in the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center towers in NYC. Commonly known as the Tear Drop Memorial, the formal name by the artist is “To the Struggle Against World Terrorism.” The names of those lost in the attacks and the World Trade Center bombing in 1993 are etched in the black granite base. The memorial is located in Bayonne New Jersey.
