Autumn in Allamuchy Park NJ

Day 290: Allamuchy State Park Autumn - Oct 17. A landscape view of the Allamuchy Mountains and foreground lowland wetlands grasses in autumn dress. Foliage and grasses are seen in late afternoon in brilliant yellow, gold and orange hues with a deep blue sky and puffy white clouds reflected in the water. I've enjoyed several day trips to this area over the past two weeks and suspect that will do it for this fall season in this location.

Day 288: Pink Chrysanthemums - Oct 15. I've been looking for pink mums to post for Breast Cancer Awareness month and finally saw some that I could photograph.

Day 287: Morris Canal Mule Bridge-Then and Now - Oct 14. A recent photograph of an old mule bridge over the Morris Canal with fall foliage and reflections combined with a vintage photograph that I found of when the bridge and canal lock were functioning. Mules would pull the barges filled with iron ore and coal along the canal until the reached the canal lock. Barges entered the lock that raised the water level to bring the barge to the start of the mountain incline. The barges was raised up the incline by pulleys and water power while the handlers and mules/horses walked across the bridge and up the incline to meet up with the barge for the next stage of canal travel. Very interesting history. As you can see, the bridge has deteriorated and been severely damaged by Superstorm Sandy. But a plan is in the works to restore the bridge.

Vintage Country Store Display

Day 282: Vintage Country Store Display - Oct 9. A trip back to historic Waterloo Village and this time the old general store was open. Fun checking out the displays of items that would have been available for sale when the village was flourishing more than 150 years ago. Looking forward to getting back over the next days for more outdoor photos.

Day 281: Fall Foliage and Reflections - Oct 8. Not much fall color near where I live as yet but an hour's ride northwest in New Jersey brings one to lots of early fall color changes.

Day 280: Boats NJ Marina-NY Harbor - Oct 7. A perfectly beautiful day to be outside and I opted for a walk along the waterfront at Liberty State Park. A rich blue sky and clear air made the colors pop in this shot of boats in the Liberty Landing marina in the park.
