Day 090: Yellow Floral Abstract - Mar 31. I am so very ready for some warmer weather and spring flowers. Another rainy day abstract play result. Janet asked about the filter that I used on yesterday's still life post. It was a Topaz Simplify Paint filter - very simple.

Day 088: Pink and Green Abstract - Mar 29. Been playing a bit with abstracts past couple of days. Here is one of them. Needed something to remind that that spring blooms will come.

Day 087: New York City Sundown - Mar 28. The end of the sundown light as twilight sets in with the golden color on the Time Warner Towers at Columbus Circle.

Day 086: New York Foggy Afternoon - Mar 27. A eerily beautiful scene as fog rolled up the Hudson River yesterday afternoon nearly obscuring the buildings at time.

Day 085: Tulip Paint Pastel - Mar 26. The last of my tulip bouquet from last weekend. I'm amazed that they lasted so long. Some digital play with paint and layers. Computer troubles yesterday so not able to comment and I need to post for yesterday as well. Rainy, dreary here - no sign of spring buds or greenery yet.

Day 084: NY Skyline- Skyscrapers at Sundown - Mar 25. More of the fascinating color shifts and contrast on Manhattan skyscrapers at sundown.

Day 083: NYSkyline-MetLifeTowerBldgSundown - Mar 24. The original Metropolitan Life Insurance Company Building was build in 1893. The company had become the largest insurance company in America, provind insurance to immigrant wage workers. In 1907 the company president contracted architect Napoleon LeBrun and Sons to construct a tower to place atop the building with the intention of it being the tallest building in the world at that time. The tower was modeled after the tower at St Mark's Campanile in Venice. The tower is fifty stories high, approximately 700 feet. It is in the classical style with a standard base ending in a pyramidal spire, cupola and lantern. There are 4 four-story clocks on the tower, one of each side. They are in the Italian Renaissance style. This photo was taken, as you can see by the clock, just before 7 p.m. as the skyline was bathed in warm sundown light.

Day 082: NYSkscrapersSundownLight - Mar 23. Sundown light refects golden colors on some of the buildings and transforms the appearance of color on the others to reds and purples with the shadows in various shades of blue. Fascinating to watch the transformation which comes and goes in minutes.

Day 079: My Tulip Garden for today - Mar 20. Happy First Day of Spring. Rain and snow all day today and will continue going into the night Decided to create my own tulip garden vision to remind me of the beauty to come, in a few weeks time. Day 078: Pink Tulips and Old Lace - Mar 19. Snow storm predicted for tomorrow so thought I'd pick up some flowers to play with. Hoped for daffodils but none in the store. Regarding the cranes and the NY Skyline. It is not so much an issue, for me, of new construction per se but the construction going on is part of a three block major new mini-city with several huge skyscrapers that will completedly transform the skyline with the Empire State Building no longer being visible from this part of New Jersey or the focal point of the skyline view. So if I am still living here as the construction contnues, you will have an ongoing status as the scene changes.

Day 077: NY Skyline Green for Saint Patrick's Day - Mar 18. Can't let Saint Patrick's Day go by without getting a photo of New York City Empire State Building decorated in green to celebrate the day.

Day 076: NY Skyline at Twilight - Mar 17. Lots of clouds blowing through at the end of the day. Note all of the cranes and construction progressing upward.

Day 075: NY Skyline at Sunrise - Mar 16. In spite of a pretty start, the sun didn't appear for much of the day.

Day 074: My Old Piano - Mar 15. Inside photography on a very rainy day yesterday.

Day 073: Duck Mallard Drake - Mar 14. Nice to find, yesterday, that the pond ice has melted enough in spots for the ducks have a little swimming space.

Day 072: Ring-billed Gull in Flight - Mar 13. Windy and cold yesterday but with blue skies and sunshine it was a nice day to be outside for a bit. Another shot of a ring-billed gull in flight.

Day 071: Ducks on Melting Pond Ice - Mar 12. This Mallard Pair and their companions were having a rough time on the melting pond ice. When they tried to walk, their feet were in slush and at times the leading foot would break through the ice completely. They had trouble walking and had no place to swim so they were rather stuck.

Day 070: Extreme Tulip Closeup - Mar 11. I'm a day behind in my photo downloaded so here is one of the last images from my tulip bouquet two days ago. They lasted an amazing amount of time. Basic macro closeup with window light and light contrast, sharpness adjustment. Amazing the lovely colors that we don't see withoug a careful look.

Day 069: Ring-billed Gull in Flight - Mar 10. A treat to get outside yesterday with sunshine, blue skies and almost 60 degree temperatures. Not the band on the gull's leg to show that he was captured, banded and released and can be monitored.

Day 068: NY Skyline Post-Sunrise - Mar 9. With the weather so dreary, cold and snowy during the past week or so, it hasn't been on my agenda to go out for sunrise photos. So...I missed the sunrise yesterday but caught the rays and some remaining color as it rose into the clouds.

Day 067: Tulip Portrait - Mar 8. I've certainy gotten a lot of pleasure the past few days seeing and photography my tulips. Certainly more cheerful way to spend photo time than outdoors in the cold. This is just a straight photograph taken in window light with no artsy filters.

Day 066: Three Tulips - Mar 7. Still having fun experimenting with my tulip bouquet. This is is three shots of the same tulip that were combined with a light paint filter applied.

Day 065: Think Spring - Mar 6. No time for outside photos today. Glad that I had my little tulip bouquet in the house to grab a quick shot. Such cheerful colors.

Day 064: Tree in Snowstorm - Mar 5. Snow all day. Had hoped to get to one of the parks to get some snow scene photos but only the main roads were cleared and I expect that the parks were closed anyway. This is just a simple image of tree branches during the storm taken near where I live.

Day 063: Tulips Impressionistic Art- Mar 4. Well - more digital play on another dreary weather day. Glad that I bought the tulips - they are cheering me up. This is the result of layering one copy of a tulip photograph on to of the other (same photo). One layer was painted in Simplify and one was not. Moved the top layer so that it was not in sync with the bottom and blended the layers. Thanks to those who commented yesterday with suggestions on sources for backgrounds. PS. Day 062: Tulips in a Vase - Mar 3. Snowing, raining - just plain messy here. Picked up a few tulips this morning when I was in supermarket. Really want to learn how to use textures. Can anyone recommend a good place to get a few to start out - either free or inexpensive?

Day 061: Graffiti Memories - Mar 2. Came across this old graffiti in the cement columns of an underground garage. Not such a great photo opportunity but look close and at the top of the graffiti someone had printed Woodstock #1. The Woodstock Music & Art Fair (aka the Woodstock Festival or Woodstock) was a music festival billed as “3 Days of Peace & Music." It was held in New York’s Catskill Mountains at Max Yasgur's 600-acre dairy farm from August 15 to 18, 1969. An audience estimated at more than 400,000 braved crowds, rain and mud in the outdoor venue to see and hear 32 acts or performers. Woodstock is widely regarded as a key turning point in popular music history and to have spurred the rise of the counterculture generation. Rolling Stone listed it as one of the 50 Moments That Changed the History of Rock and Roll. No I wasn't there. I was a young mother with three young children then but I certainly remember the media attention that it received and the spectacular music that we all got to know and love.

Day 060: Citrus Fruit Still Life- Mar 1. More snow and freezing rain expected late in the day and overnight. Need lots of Vitamin C.
