Day 269: Peppers at the Farmer's Market - September 30. Thanks to all who posted such nice comments on my Liberty collage yesterday.

Day 268: Liberty - September 29. My post for 'L' alphabet day today represents Liberty. I had planned to take a trip to the Statue of Libery to get images for today of Lady Liberty but wasn't able to do so. The more that I thought about it, the more I realized that liberty could not occur without a lot of other 'L" words such as loyalty, loss, love of country, liberation so I headed to Liberty State Park to add some shots to those in my archives and created this collage of the Lady, the American Flags, the Freedom Tower, the Liberation statue and names from the Empty Sky 9/11 memorial.

Day 267: Mill Creek Marsh-NJ Meadowlands - September 28. The tree foliage is just beginning to turn for fall colors but very little so far. However a walk in this Meadowlands Park yesterday offered some pretty scenes of shrubs and marsh grasses with lovely fall yellows and golds.

Day 266: NYSkyline at Sundown - September 27. Didn't get out yesterday for any daytime shots but fortunately there was lovely sundown color to enjoy. For perspective, The two tall towers to the left are the Time Warner Center Towers at Columbus Circle and Central Park South and the Intrepid Museum is in the foreground. The Triangular Top Building on the right is the Worldwide Plaza complex on West 50th Street.

Day 265: Macro Mums - September 26. These bronze/orange colored mums are less than an inch in diameter but shot closeup with a macro lens they look huge.

Day 263: Yellow Chrysanthemums - September 24. Aburst of yellow cheer for today.

Day 260: NYC BillboardArt Highline Park - September 21. This is a section of the artwork by Gilbert & George displayed on the Highline Billboard. On display until Octobr 1, It is called "Waking" and according to the writeup, it is of "young men that represent the primal life forces at their most formative stages." Thanks to all who wrote the wonderful comments about my skyline post yesterday. Sorry that I didn't get to comment yesterday - shortly after taking this photo, I tripped and fell and would up going to ER with a possible broken leg. As it turned out, only a broken toe but badly banged up leg. So will be hobbling around and no more walking day trips for a while.

Day 259: NYSkylilne Harvest Moon - September 20. A beautiful Harvest moon rising above midtown Manhattan last night just after sundown.. The building with the triangular top is One Worldwide Plaza at 50th street.

Day 258: NYSkylilne at Sunrise - September 19. Cold nights but beautiful daytime weather yesterday and today. A nice opportunity for a shot of sunrise over Manhattan. In the next months, will probably post more as the sun comes up in closer alignment to the Chrysler and Empire State buildings.

Day 257: Pink Chrysanthemums - September 18. Temperatures hovering near freezing overnight and chrysanthemums beginning to bloom - a sure sign that summer is over for this year.

Day 256: NYSkyline at Sundown- September 17.

Day 256: NY Skyillne at Sundown - September 17. Beautiful color in the sundown sky and clouds over Manhattan yesterday.

Day 255: Just Cruisin Along- September 16. A shot from late Saturday afternoon when four different cruise ships were lined up in New York piers - one just pulling out to begin departure. I like the small (by comparison) sailboat in the frame for scale.

Day 254: Jersey Grown - September 15. Jersey Grown and Jersey Fresh are two common labels seen to promote New Jersey produce. So being a Jersey girl, that had to be my "J" post for today.

Day 253: Flowers and Flags - September 14. Spotted this burst of color as I was driving in a neighboring town and decided to backtrack to check it out. It was a circular path of newly planted mum with flags interspersed between the plants around a lovely 9/11 memorial spot.

Day 252: Hoboken View of Manhattan- September 13. View of the NY skyline from the Hoboken Riverfront. A murky, cloudy, rainy day in the morning and heavy rain at night. Caught this bit of blue sky just after a late morning rain storm.

Day 251: 9/11 MemorialTribute Lights - September 12. Crowds of onlookers and photographers lined the waterfront at Liberty State Park in Jersey City NJ as darkness fell last night to view the 9/11 Tribute of Lights reach high in the sky above lower Manhattan. What an awesome sight! Somehow, for me, the power of these blue beams appearing to reach up beyond this world brings a sense of calm and peace for me after a sad day of remembrance. Thanks to all who posted such thoughtful, supportive comments on my post yesterday.

Day 250: Empty Sky 9/11 Memorial - September 11. Twelve years but it seems like yesterday when I stood on the deck of a ferryboat which had just left lower Manhattan and the chaos of the first tower collapse only to watch in total shock as the second tower crumbled to the ground. It still makes me weep to remember, thinking of all of the innocent people who were trapped and of the brave police, fire, medical and other first responders who sacrificed their health and their lives to help. Prayers for them all today and always. This image shows a few of the names etched on the walls of the Empty Sky 9/11 Memorial at Liberty State Park in NJ and the new One World Trade Center in the distance across the Hudson River. Thanks for all of the heartfelt comments on my post yesterday of the memorial lights. It is very foggy here today but if the weather clears tonight I hope to get a photo of the lights tonight.

Day 247: Skipper Butterfly - September 8. Black-eyed Susan flowers and butterfly sightings are both fading quickly as fall approaches. This Least Skipper was enjoying foraging on the flowerhead.

Day 249: Testing Tribute LIghts - September 10. Apparently lighting engineers were briefly testing the tribute lights late last night to prepare for the Tribute of Lights display tomorrow on Sept 11. A compelling sight as the lights hit the cloud cover and reflected back. There are actually two beams but from the angle of this vantage point, they line up in a way that that it appears to be one beam.

Day 248: Farmer's Market Peppers - September 9. Beautiful yellow and orange peppers available at our Sunday Farmer's Market.

Day 247: SunflowerPopArt - September 8. I for IMAGINATION. Had taken photos of ivy and of ice for today's letter 'i' challenge but then realized for the millionth time that without imagination there would be no art or creative thinking of any sort so that is what my image for today stands for.

Day 246: NYSkyline Late Afternoon - September 7. A beautiful, crystal clear September afternoon.

Day 245: Yellow Flowers - September 6. Canna Flowers - didn't the identity of these flowers but loved the colors when I saw them growing in a local garden.

Day 244: Sunflower Field- September 5. Happy Rosh Hashanah to those who are celebrating this holiday. This sunflower field is located in Sussex County NJ. I think that the time for sunlower photos is over for this year. While the fields are still lovely to see, the flowers are not as fresh and pretty to photograph. Day 243: Sleeping Angel - September 4. Thanks so much to those of you who read my post yesterday and voted for my photo contest entry. I appreciate your support very much. As of this morning, it still ranks quite a bit behind other enries since I entered it at such a late date but you can vote again today and tomorrow. This sweet little sleeping angel is one of a pair that sit atop entry pillars at the doorway of an older house in my neighborhood. The front yard to the home is fenced and the two pillars have been obscured by high schrubs. Yesterday, when I walked by the gate was open and I noticed the angels for the first time. A man who was working in the yard allowed me to go in to get a photo. According to him they are at least 100 years old.

Day 242: Snowy Egrets - September 3. Decided to get out for a walk yesterday morning before the rain began. Came across these snowy egrets feeding in the still water in NJ Meadowlands. Fortunately I had my bag of lenses in the car so was able to change lenses and get back to where I saw them for a few shots before they flew off to another spot. The rain began just as I got back to the car.

Day 241: Apples- September 2. A sure sign that Fall is near - beautiful freshly picked apples at the Farmer's Market. .

Day 240: Hibiscus Flower- September 1.
