Day 333: Thankful - November 30. Today my 'thankful' post is for all of those unexpected magical moments over the year that have caused me to stop what I was doing and just soak up the sights or sounds and forget about everything else in that space of my life. The moments where I've been on the road and just had to turn back to a spot where I saw a gorgeous display of spring tulips or the day I was out walking in the park and came upon a group of more than a dozen snowy egrets feeding together at low tide; or those times when I thought that I would not get my photo for the day and suddenly an idea pops into my head or a subject just seems to appear. This shot is from just before sundown on Thanksgiving afternoon, across the street from where I was having dinner, when a flock of a few hundred birds descended on a cluster of bare branched trees raucously calling to each other.

Day 332: Thankful - November 29. I am thankful today and always each morning when I am up and out to see a sunrise. Each one is unique and beautiful - a wonderful reminder that each day is unique and wonderful - another chance to see a new place, try something new, do something better than the time before, learn something new, an opportunity to be a kinder, better person.

Day 331: Thankful - November 28. This is the first year since the 1880s that Thanksgiving and Hanukkah holidays have overlapped. Last night on Thanksgiving Eve and the first night of Hanukkah, the Empire State Building was lit alternately with with lights to celebrate both. Today I am most thankful for my family and friends and for a day that is set aside to be together with loved ones who live close enough to be together for a wonderful dinner and day of thanks. HAPPY THANKSGIVING AND HAPPY HANUKKAH.

Day 330: Thankful - November 27. After a night of blustery winds and torrential rains with more to come today, my thoughts are that I am thankful for a roof over my head, heat to keep me warm and a frig full of things to prepare for Thanksgiving with the help of my little personal chef. Happy Thanksgiving Eve dirve safely if you are traveling.

Day 329: Thankful - November 26. A shot of lower Manhattan last night at sundown - a lucky shot since I had intended to be somewhere else. Due to a traffic jam I decided to return home and on the way saw this sundown color. So today my 'thankful' note is for all of the beautiful, magical, colorful moments this past year that I was able to see and capture as a result of this Photo-A-Day project. and having my camera with me so much of the time. Often the subjects were thought out and planned a day ahead but many times, such as last night, photos were unexpected and lucky shots.

Day 328: Thankful - November 25. With Thanksgiving coming up later in the week and yesterday being a 'T' alphabet challenge day, I've decided to make the theme of my posts this week "things that I am thankful for". Today a thanks for the beautiful, fresh and delicious healthy produce that has been available to me via local New Jersey farmers and our Farmer's Market.

Day 327: NYC Times Squares - November 24. Times Square for 'T' alphabet day. According to Wikipedia, Times Square is the most visited tourist site in the world with about 1/3 of a million visitors each year. The area begins where Broadway meets 7th at 42nd Street and includes up to 47th Street. Here is a photo (45th Street) taken during the week complete with yellow cabs and pigeons.

Day 325: NYSkyline at Nightfall - November 22.

Day 324: NYC Holiday Window Display Lord and Taylor - November 21. Lord and Taylor on 5th Avenue was the first of the large NYC stores to unveil the holiday windows this year. The theme is an "Old Fashioned NY Christmas." The window scenes are created from cardboard figures and items such as old buildings, trains, rocking horse as well as smaller dolls and items. This is a closeup of one of the cardboard figures.

Day 323: Bryant Park Ice Rink NYC- November 20.

Day 321: Apples- November 18. Apples at the Farmers Market. Rain and fog almost all day yesterday. Thanks to all who commented on my sunrise skyline post.

Day 320: Skyline Sunrise Spectacle- November 17. Of course for "S" day of the alphabet challenge, I had to post a skyline and none better than when combined with a beautiful sunrise. I've posted more skyline photos this week than I normally would but the light has been so great and this sunrise from a few days ago is the most dramatic of the week.

Day 319: NYSkyline Dawn- November 16. One of those beautiful mornings - this is the peak color after dawn and just before the sun broke over the skyline buildings yesterday.

Day 318: NYSkyline Sundown- November 15.Version two of today's post - this one a vertical perspective. Take a look a both to see how quickly the sundown light on the buildings changed. This was shot at 4:37 and the horizontal at 4:41.

Day 318: NYSkyline Sundown- November 15. Lovely pink, peach and yellow tones in the sky and on and Time Warner Center Towers for a few brief moments last night at the start of sundown. It always amazes me how the sundown light transforms the look of the city.

Day 317: Pumpkin Display- November 14.

Day 316: USS New York Departs NYC - November 13. It was a moving sight to watch the USS New York (LPD-21)) sail down the Hudson River as she departed from her visit to NYC for Veteran's Day weekend. The Navy ship, named New York to commeorate 9/11, was commissed for service in 2009. Her bow contains 7.5 tons of steel salvaged from the fallen twin towers. Couldn't help but wonder what her crew felt as they passed by the new One World Trade Buildinng. This colllage counterclockwise: 1) being guided out of her berth, 2) crusing past the Intrepid Museum, 3) a close up shot, 4) passing the Empire State Building and .5) about to pass lower Manhattan and One World Trade as she heads out to New York Harbor and back to sea.

Day 315: Veteran's Day Red White and Blue - November 12. I've posted the Empire State Building in Red, White and Blue a number of times but I never get tired of seeing those colors light up the skyline. Last night the lights were in honor of Veteran's Day.
