Day 148: Pink Rose - May 31. A pink rose to finish out the month of May - from an early walk this morning.

Day 147: Pink Peony - May 30. Finally a sunny day - didn't get out to photo until mid-day which is my least favorite time. Harsh shadows on everything. Caught this bright fuchsia pink/red peony against the brilliant green sunlit grass.

Day 142: Tall Bearded Iris - Presby Memorial Iris Garden, Montclaire NJ - May 25. Iris "Bohemian" in the rain.

Day 142: Tall Bearded Iris - Presby Memorial Iris Garden, Montclaire NJ - May 24. This iris is named Michigan Pride. It is one of the iris portraits that I've managed to photo this week in spite of car troubles (finally towed to repair and still there for the third day) and massive rain storms yesterday. I had set aside a lot ot time this week to be at the garden and capture as many as the beautiful species and colors as I could but luck has not been with me and so far only a few sporadic hours there. Thanks for all of the comments on my cicada post yesterday. That was one of the lucky moments.

Day 141: Cicada on Iris Flower - Presby Memorial Iris Garden, Montclaire NJ - May 23. Now and then I've seen reports of the cicadas emerging from the ground in NJ but this was a surprise sighting to see on sitting on an iris plant yesterday.

Day 137: Presby Memorial Iris Garden - May 19. Poured rain all day today. Spent the day editing iris photos instead of being out photographing them which I would have enjoyed much more. Today's iris is named Purple Pepper.

Day 136: Presby Memorial Iris Garden - May 18. Tall Bearded iris named Autumn Rose.

Day 135: Presby Memorial Iris Garden - May 17. Iris are beginning to bloom in this park in Montclair NJ, and hundreds of buds are ready to pop open. In a few days, the garden should be filled with various colors of historic and modern iris blossoms.

Day 134: Pink Chrysanthemum - May 16. The last of the flowers from my Mother's Day bouquet.

Day 133: NY Skylilne Afternoon - May 15. A pretty afternoon with sailboats dotting the Hudson River. But temperature-wise, it didn't feel like Spring - it was very cold.

Day 132: NYC Central Park Lake - May 14. Thanks for the many nice comments posted for my yellow rose image yesterday. Todays post is a duo of shots of Central Park Lake. The top one is the view facing east and the bottom is the view of the lake facing west.

Day 130: Happy Mother's Day - May 12. Wishing all of the moms, grandmoms, steopmoms, foster moms and all of the caring nurturers out there a wonderful day. Thanks to my children for all of their love and support and for feeding my addictions to chocolate and flowers.

Day 129: One World Trade Center Spire - May 11. Yesterday One World Trade Center was in the news as a silver cap was placed on the spire to complete the height of the building which is 1,776 feet. The spire measures 408 feet. It is now officially the tallest building in the U.S. These photos were taken from Liberty State Park in Jersey City, N.J. Thank you to all who commented on my hosta plant rindrop image yesterday. I had a full photo day - in the morning I returned to a garden in Montclair N.J. to photograph very old wisteria vines which are in peak bloom and also found some tulips there that were stunning - as big as saucers. Home for a quick lunch then to Liberty State Park to get the shots above.

Day 128: Raindrops on Hosta Leaves - May 10. More much needed rain yesterday.

Day 127: NYSkyline - May 9. Rain thrughout the day but a break and some pretty clouds just before sundown time.

Day 126: OneWorldTradeCtr-EmptySky - May 8. Last week the final metal pieces were put in place for the spire of One World Trade Center. Decided yesterday to take photos of the building from Liberty State Park. Did get some close up of the building but decided to post this one with it as seen through the 9/11 Empty Sky Memorial.

Day 127: VanVleckHouseandGarden - May 7. Yellow and white daffodils and bright pink azaleas make a beautiful display in the front lawn of the VanVleck House and Garden in Montclair, N.J. Thanks to all who commented on my PAD yesterday.

Day 126: Crabapple Tree NJ Meadowlands - May 6. Visited my my favorite NJ Meadowlands Park yesterday to check the status of repairs to damage from Superstorm Sandy. Took a few shots of crabapple and redbud trees in bloom. Sadly, most of the trails in the park are still closed.

Day 125: Yellow Primula - May 5. Not sure what these flowers are - I think they are yellow primula. They were a bright, cheery sight in a garden a few blocks from my home. Many of the small gardens around here butt right up against the sidewalks to occasionally result in flower photo opportunities.

Day 124: Crabapple Blossoms - May 4. Found several of these trees with white and pink blossoms but the wind was so strong didn't try for more than a few photos - many of little flowers were blowing off. Loved their delicate look.

Day 123: Cherry Blossom - May 3. There are still a few cherry trees around the neighborhood with blossoms. Thought I'd take advantage and get a few more shots yesterday. The beautiful color that they provide won't last much longer for this year.

Day 121: Phlox - May 2. Shades of pinks, lavenders, and also white are brightening local gardens as this phlox groundcover is coming into bloom.

Day 120: NYC Bryant Park in Spring - May 1. A collage for the first day of May. Bryant Park in midtown Manhattan was a blast of color and activity at noontime yesterday with hundreds of folks enjoying their lunch while sitting in the sunshine and families bringing their young children to the carousel. Lots of beautiful tulips and pansies in bloom.
