Day 18: Empire State Building Colors - Jan 18, 2013. As of sundown last night, I had not gotten my daily photo so I decided to work on close up shots of the Empire State Building, The ESB is currently holding a color voting opportunity on the ESB Facebook page. Each night for 7 nights, a different color will be highlighted with four different shades of that color shown on the four sides of the tower. Last night the color to be shown was green. So I was quite surprised after getting out tripod, putting tele-extender on the camera and setting up to see the first lights shining a lavender blue color on the West side of the building and a yellow color on the South side. Within 5 minutes, the color turned to bright yellow and then after another 5 minutes or so, the yellow was lighter and some tones of green were starting to show through. It was cold and I gave up at that point. Later at night, I checked the Facebook page and it showed a brilliant green on the East side of the tower. So....the green color vote to me was puzzling. Now that my curiosity is up, I'll have to check it out tonight when the tower should be lit in four different shades of blue. Unfortunately, I only get to see one side from my area of NJ.
