Day 309: Painted African Violets - Nov 3. Day 6 of Hurricane Sandy. Early afternoon Saturday - getting colder and colder. Safe cooked food is just about gone as is water to use to flush toilets. Figure about two more days left of that. Needed something cheerful to think about so took a photo of my neighbor's beautiful African Violet plant. A few hours later, our power was restored - late afternoon Saturday - I'm posting these on Sunday. Actually this was processed using a Topaz paint filer on Sunday (today) when I'm finally getting to catch up on my email, Facebook posts, photo uploads, etc. Last night a food fest after the power went on and several of us cooked what foods we could still use and got together to share all that we had available. Now the problem is getting new supplies from stores which are quite empty around here and difficult to get gasoline for cars. Done for now - more tomorrow. Need to talk about how grateful I am that my children from VA, MD, PA and friends from other states offered to drive to NJ to bring me supplies or to take me to their homes.
