Day 123: St Michael's Monastery Dome - May 2, 2012. Thank you to those who commented on my sunflower image yesterday. Today's image is the dome of a church that was opened in 1869. Sadly, the building has deteriorated and is badly in need of repair. Yesterday when I was there, one small section had scaffolding built around it so I hope significant repairs will be made to this structure that is listed as an historic place. It was the largest Roman Catholic church in Hudson County NJ. The property was sold in the 80's and over the years an apartment complex and city athletic field have been built on the property and the church used for presbyterian services for a period ot time.
