Day 214: Sunflowers - August 1. Once again this year, the NJ Audubon S.A.V.E. program sunflowers are in bloom across NJ. . The project is a joint effort of NJ Audubon and several NJ farmers to harvest and sell black sunflower seed locally. It benefits the farmers, NJ Audubon and the buyer who receives very fresh locally grown bird seed. For every few acres of sunflowers grown, NJ Audubon uses the funds to restore and preserve one acre of grassland habitat. For more info, here is the link
