NYC Winter Double Rainbows

Like a mirage, this pair of rainbows appeared briefly and then disappeared as the sun peeked through rain clouds that were breaking up and moving out of the area. They lasted only about four minutes and then were gone as the skies turned gray and dark again. The foreground rainbow was so close on the New Jersey side of the Hudson River that it was clear and richly colored while the second one was farther in the distance and more obscured by the misty skies.

What a surprise to see this winter rainbow. One minute heavy, very cold rain with dark skies and then the sun made it's way through the clouds to create this double rainbow. Somehow the eerie light caught my eye and I grabbed the camera, without a coat, to run outside where I could catch this view- justg in time to catch the rainbows that appeared. Minutes later the rainbows and the sun were gone. In the foreground the Weehawkin waterfron of New Jersey where you can see the base of the main rainbow. Across the river, midtown Manhattan.

NY Skyline Purple Twilight

A landscape view of the skyline of midtown Manhattan and the Hudson River as the golden hues of sundown fade and twilight blue hues compete for attention. Heavy clouds from the end of a storm pattern are toned in pinks and purples by the last of the warm setting sun and lights reflecting up from the city. All in all, a rather spectacular sight to see.

Hudson Yards NYC Sundown Blues

A vertical format view of the skyscrapers of the Hudson Yards neighborhood of midtown Manhattan just after a rain storm passed through the area and skies began to clear. The muted setting sun to the West created warm light on the buildings and a magenta hue in the clouds. Construction work is being completed on the tallest of the towers, 30 Hudson Yards, and in March a restaurant will open on the 100th floor that will be adjacent to an open viewing platform named "The Edge." The platform, the highest is the western hemisphere, will be 1,100 feet above ground.

One World Trade in Sky BLues
