Memorial Day Flag Display George Washington Bridge

The largest free-flying American Flag as is hangs from the George Washington Bridge in commemoration of Memorial Day. A close up view of the cars below gives a perspective of the size of the flag. It measures 60 feet by 90 feet. The blue field on the flag is 40 feet by 35 feet. Each stripe is five feet in diameter and each star is about four feet in diameter." The flag weighs about 400 pounds. A visit that I like to make once or twice a year on National Holidays when the flag flies.

Memorial Day Garden

A small segment of a large garden patch filled with red, white and blue petunias and tiny American Flags in recognition of Memorial Day. The flowers were newly planted and hadn't filled out to cover the bare ground as yet, so took this close up in lieu of a full garden sho to remember, honor and give thanks to those who served and lost their lives to protect our country. I pray that we will get past these difficult, challenging time, come together and stand up for the values and Constitution that these lost heroes fought for. Sundown Surprise NYC

A very brief attempt by Mother Nature to create a sundown display last evening that only lasted long enough for three quick shutter clicks. After a very heavy rainstorm that almost completely obscured any view of the skyline, the clouds broke, rain stopped that suddenly this scene appeared. It didn't last but a few minutes before dark clouds moved in again. Fortunately, happened to have my camera handy.

Invitation to Daydream

Point Pleasant NJ Boardwalk Amusement rides

The beautiful elaborately decorated Swing Ride at Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk with a view of other rides in the background. A glimpse of the amusement rides that are sitting ready to go into action Starting next weekend the swings on this ride will be flying through the air filled with happy riders. I loved seeing the intricate design and artwork on this ride.

Boardwalk Game Display N.J. Shore

Oh my gosh. Seeing these game booths on the boardwalk brought back so many memories of annual trips to the Jersey Shore when my children were young and a visit to a Boardwalk for games, rides and sweet treats was mandatory. A colorful array of stuffed animals and other items entice passersby to play a boardwalk game and test their skill to see if they will be rewarded with one of these items.

Pink Clouds at Sundown NYC

Another gorgeous May sundown view of the New York City skyline and Hudson River as the golden hour gave way to deep twilight blues and shadows. At the end of a hazy, cloudy day, the reflected sundown colors bounced off the clouds off the clouds above turning them a pinkish gold.

White Candytuft Flowers

Candytuft (Iberis sempervirens), a low growing perennial flowering plant often used as border edging, The flowers are available in a few colors in the pink hues but white seems to be the most popular. While the flowers don't have a significant perfume, they do attract bees and butterflies which helps to increase pollinator of surrounding plants.

Golden NYC at Sundown

A beautiful golden sundown on Mother's Day that transofrmed the look of the city skyscrapers into a vision in gold, bronze, yellows and clay colors with a deep blue sky that was reflected in the Hudson River.

A lone yellow magnolia blossoms just beginning to open on a partly sunny day. This is the first time that I've seen a yellow magnolia and wish I could have gotten back to see the tree in full bloom.
