Sunflowers are the national flower of Unkraine. The flowers symbolize life, love, loyalty,.good fortune and people who believe in always looking towards their goal .

NYC Eyes on the Sky

After a day of sleet, rain, and heavy wind it appeared, by late afternoon, that the storm was clearing out. But just as the sundown hour began this dark cloud blew in creating a very dramatic sky over the city.

A few mornings ago -beautiful orange and gold skies and color reflection in the Hudson River just before the sun appeared as it rose up and over the NYC skyline horizon, The west side of midtown Manhattan and Hudson Yards complex.

Male Red-winged Blackbird Immature

On a recent walk, I came across a large flock of Red-Winged Blackbirds. They were active, raucous in their calls, and determined to stay out of reach of my camera lens. Finally, this one flew in a bit closer and I was able to catch a shot as he called out to communicate something to the flock before he flew off again.

Common Grackle

A look at the beautiful feather colors of a Common Grackle as he flew into the light , bringing out the iridescent quality of his plumage. He turned in a different direction and then looked like a pure black bird blending in with the Blackbirds he was hanging out with.

Sundown Hues and New York City

On the past weekend, a myriad of gold, green, blue, orange and other colors are reflected off the skyscrapers of the midtown Manhattan skyline. The tall center buildings are the new construction of the Hudson Yards neighborhood. To the left are the Chrysler building tower that used to be one of the tallest skyscrapers in the skyline, and further left the Vanderbilt tower, newly constructed next to Grand Central Station . The leftmost towers are in the Times Square area. Two of the new skyscrapers have glass viewing platforms sky decks on high floors - EDGE at 30 Hudson Yards and the SUMMIT at One Vanderbilt At ground level, in the open square at Hudson Yards, you can see the Vessel, sculpture that offers 1 mile of vertical climbing activity with 2,500 steps, 80 landings, and 154 interconnecting flights of stairs.

Big Apple sundown

The west side of Manhattan and the Hudson River in a golden glow from the setting sun to the West. Along the riverfront are the Intredpid Air and Space Museum and the Norwegian Getaway cruise ship. With the cruise lines shut down for such an extended period due to Covid, it was a welcome sight to see a ship return. this weekend

Mourning Dove on Alert

A Mourning Dove, wide-eyed and alert after something in the distance startled it. Photographed in the NJ Meadowlands. The dove blended in so well with the environment that I didn't see it until it moved. It settled back down after a quick look around, but shortly after flew to nearby branch.

Goose Spa Retreat

House Sparrow

A little house sparrow, I believe a juvenile, perched for a brief moment on marsh reeds in the sunlight on a cold winter day. with marsh water in the background reflecting the pale blue sky color. There were a number of the birds near by but most were staying hunkered down in the shelter of the reeds.

Hudson River - Last Sundown of January
