Manhattan October Sunrise

With so many cloudy, rainy mornings lately, it was a rare treat to see this colorful sunrise a week or so ago. Beautiful skies in blue, coral, orange gold and yellow hues in the moments before the rising sun climbs above the New York City Skyscraper horizon.

Farm Market Autumn Display NJ

An outdoor farm market display with flowers, pumpkins, gourds,, squash and other fall season produce. In addition to this variety of feshly picked foods and decorative items to choose from, there was another large covered tent with apples and more fruits and vegetables plus a store with jams, jellies, prepared foods and baked goods. What a treat for the eyes and the stomach.

Afternoon Sun Star - NJ Meadowlands

A path at the Mill Creek Marsh area of NJ Meadowlands in late afternoon. I took a walk in the park a few days ago hoping to find some fall season color in the trees and shrubs but not much to see and the lowering sun was the main attraction. Color has not developed here as yet and with today's heavy rain and potential high wind gusts, I fear that the leaves will blown down and end the chance for any substantial display this Fall season here in my section of New Jersey. I did enjoy the walk though - it was a beautiful afternoon.

Sunflower Enchantment

Looking up at a grouping of bright, tall, golden sunflowers framed against a cloud-dotted rich blue sky. I love seeing the fields of these flowers in bloom. They just project such a wonderful celebration of life and reminder of the joy, beauty and miracles of nature in each day.

Gorgeous skies and a field full of sunflowers make a beautiful scene as the sunflower bloom season ends in New Jersey.

Autumn Season Sundown Rainbow NYC

An awesome display of color and light put on by Mother Nature over the New York Skyline a few days ago. A short rain shower to the East with heavy storm clouds obscured a section of the skyline and produced a rainbow as it cleared through just at the height of the sundown hour. The combination brought intense color to the clouds that was reflected in the buildings and Hudson River. The entire display from start to finish lasted less than 10 minutes but it was quite an amazing sight with these amazing autumn hued skies.

Chrysanthemum Field in Full Bloom

This is the scene that visitors are greeted with upon entering the farm fields. My objective for the visit to the farm was to photograph the last of the annual sunflower blooms but I was quickly captivated y all of this color. Flower Farm Entrance NJ

The start of my day trip visit to a flower farm on Thursday in central New Jersey where the 'pick your own' sunflower fields are in bloom. This is the view as one enters the property. The farm is owned by a family with roots in Holland and in the tulip growing business. In the Spring the fields are a massive palette of the rich bright colors of blooming tulips. One of a number of farms in New Jersey and the tri-state area where agri-tourism is helping the farms to survive.

NYC Fog at Sunrise

Yesterday's sunrise with fog and mist in the air. Even so, it was wonderful to see the sun after days of cloudy, drizzly, dreary weather. The fog cleared up and I took a lovely day trip to a central New Jersey flower farm for a walk among the flower fields and some autumn bloom photo opportunities.

Pumpkin - or Not

Not being a pumpkin expert, I don't know if this is an extra fancy type of pumpkin that is edible or if it is simply a decorative pumpkin or gourd used for display only. In any case - it caught my eye because if looked like it was topped with sugar candy pieces.

Apple Picking Time NJ

A little sugar, a little spice - I'm thinking apple pie or maybe apple cake or cobbler. One of the pleasures of autumn - a windfall of delicious varieties of apples that grow in the NJ tri-state area.
