An amazing sight and experience to walk the fields among millions of tulips in bloom on a gorgeous day with bright blue skies and puffy clouds blowing across the sky.

April Moonrise over Manhattan

Another wider view of the moonrise over NYC. The skyline of New York City and Hudson River as the April "Pink" moon rises above the skyscrapers during the twilight blue hour. The last of the sundown color reflections linger on the building facades and night lights have begun to appear.

It is not really a pink color, but named this way by the Native Americans in the area for the bright, colorful pink phlox native flowers that were one of the first Spring blooms. In this view, the moon was far above the Earth's horizon before it peeked out from behind the skyline buildings and was much farther away from Earth so it appears smaller and less colorful than if seen from a viewpoint where it was could be seen coming over the horizon.

Tulip Joy in the Fields

Photographed at Holland Ridge Farms in Central NJ as the flower buds were just beginning to open. This is the third year that this Agritourism venue has been planted with these millions of bulbs but only the second time that visitors have been allowed due to the Covid shutdown last year. The tulip farm is owned by a Dutch family that has it's roots in tulip growing for many generations in Holland. This year all of the beds are available to visitors to 'pick your own' bouquets and is proving to be very popular, with entry tickets for each day being sold out well in advance. .On the day that I went, it was very cold - only in the 30-40 degree F range with very heavy winds. Fortunately there were beautiful skies for part of my visit and there were opportunities for nice landscape shots even though there were many people there.

Cherry Blossom Framed Sacred Heart Basilica

The historic Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark NJ framed by pink cherry blossoms of Branch Brook Park. The Cathedral is the fifth-largest in North America and is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark. . Construction began in 1899 and was finished in 1954. The park is famous for it's Spring cherry blossom display with more than 5000 of the ornamental trees planted throughout the park.

A Joyous Burst of Springtime

The first Spring blossoms in all of their joyous, colorful glory at Branch Brook Park in Newark NJ as the cherry blossoms reach peak bloom, forsythia compete with a burst of golden color and shrubs leaf out in green all under an amazing clear, deep blue sky. A tower of the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart can be seen in a clear space between the blooming trees.

A gorgeous Spring day for a visit to Branch Brook Park in Newark/Belleville N.J. Azure blue skies, early green grass and blooming ornamental cherry trees in many varieties colors made it a beautiful place for a walk and lots of photography.

Springtime Cherry Blossom Beauty

The start of the cherry blossom bloom time at Branch Brook Park in Newark New Jersey with the grass turning green, a soft blue sky and one of the huge, old weeping cherry trees that are scattered around the park and are visitor favorites. The large variety of cherry trees at the park include those that are newly planted as well as many that are decades old with flowers ranging from white shell pink to deep rose pink. Peak bloom with occur by the weekend.
