Burgundy Red Daylily

The name comes from the Greek words for day and beautiful. Each flower blooms for one day only and is replaced the next day with a new flowers on the plant stem. Daylilies are native to Asia and the roadside orange or tawny flower (Hemerocallis fulva) seen in the United States is actually an invasive plant. Daylilies have been cultivated for decades s and there are now thousands of cultivars of various colors. A normal, single daylily flower has three petals and three sepals, collectively called tepals, each with a midrib in either the same basic color or a different color. The centermost part of the flower, called the throat, usually is of a different color than the more distal areas of the tepals.

Lavendar Monarda
