NYC Atlas in Black and White
A black and white view of the Rockefeller Center Atlas sculpture with the exquisite facade of the front of St. Patrick's Cathedral in the background. The bronze Art Deco style statue is located in the Rockefeller Center International Building Couryard in midtown Manhattan. The sculpture depicts the Ancient Greek Titan Atlas holding the heavens. Installed in 1937,Atlas was created by the sculptors Lee Lawrie and Rene Paul l Chambellan. The actual statue is 15 feet (4.6 m) tall, while the entire structure statue is 45 feet (14 m) tall.[4][5] It weighs 7 short tons (6,400 kg),and is the largest sculpture at Rockefeller Center.
