New York Christmas 2013
NYC Christmas and Holiday Displays 2013: I began my NYC Holiday 2013 photography adventures with a visit to the city as November drew to a close and the major department stores unveiled their holiday winoows. Happily, I was able to get back for a few more short visits before Christmas week. This year, the holiday theme at Lord and Taylor is vintage NY and the window scenes are filled with beautifully made cutouts of vintage postcard images in the context of old time New York. Rockefeller Center is magical at this time of year - albeit super crowded. The Macy's windows are filled with the traditional Virginia story windows and scenes of a child sleeping and apparently dreaming of magical places and things. Sak's Fifth Avenue windows contain scenes from the Yeti story and Anthropologie has exquisite windows displays focused on textures. While Saint Patrick's Cathedral is filled with scaffolding as the building is being renovated, the creche was on display and is truly beautiful to see. Central Park and the Holiday Stars at Time Warner Center are always a delight. So much to see and do - so much fun.
