Cherry Blossoms
Japanese ornamental cherry trees and their blossoms have a long history and cultural significance. In this country each Spring, cherry blossom festivals abound in the NE such as those in Washington DC and Branch Brook Park in Newark NJ. Neighborhoods in my area of New Jersey are dotted with their gorgeous pink blooms for a short time. There are several varieties of cherry blossoms - the more commonly recognized one consisting of white blossoms with a pink tinge; the weeping cherry tree and then, those in the photos below which produce thick clusters of magnificently rich pink flowers. These, I believe, are of the Japanese Kanzanzakura variety.
