NYC Morning Transition Twilight to Sunrise
The harbinger of another cloudy day to come. Deep morning twilight blacks and blues seem to be reluctant to give way to the warm rich colors of the rising sun. Once the sun climbed beyond that yellow streak in the clouds, it disappeared under the clouds for most of the remainder of the day.

Wood Duck Pausing for a Drink
A beautiful male Wood Duck Drake seen on the Hudson River along the New Jersey waterfront as he pauses in his swim for a drink of water. I had seen reports of a Wood Duck about a half hour drive from me so decided to try to get a look at him. Went to the location several times. On the second day, I saw him and after over an hour he came out into open water and bright light to pose for photos. On day three he didn't appear and I haven't seen any reports of him since. Apparently he was only stopping by for a quick visit. So glad that I got to see him.

When the pink hues of yesterday's sundown image gave way to twilight blue in the sky, beautiful, rich reflections of the setting sun to the West continued to paint the towers of NYC with rich golds, oranges, purples and more in a farewell to the daylight hours.
Surprise Sunset NY Skyline
After another rainy, dreary day yesterday, skies began to clear at sundown time and an unexpected display of beautiful color in the misty skies. I almost missed it, it came and disappeared so quickly.
Gadwall Drake Duck
Another Gadwall Male Duck, this one during a brief pause while preening in a bit of warm sun along the banks of the Hudson River in New Jersey. These ducks don't get much attention due to their bland feather colors but the warm sunlight and his position show the beauty of their markings and subtle plumage colors that are quite pretty and complex.

Manhattan Winter Blues
