Reeves-Reed Daffodils and Vintage Home
The Daffodil Bowl and Wisner House at Reeves-Reed Arboretum in Summit N.J. The non-profit arboretum comprises almost 14 acres of woodland and landscaped property. Early on, Lenni Lenape Native Americans traversed the property, traveling from
coastal NJ to the highlands of the state, North and West. During the time of the American Revolutionary War, it was farmland. In the late 1800s, the property was purchased by John Wisner who build the Colonial Revival home as part of the family country estate The landscaping was done by Calvert Vaux. In 1916, the Reeves family purchased the property and expanded the gardens. The daffodils bloom in a glacial bowl in front of Wisner House in early Spring. The original daffodil flowers were planted by Susie Graham Reeves in the 1920s. The garden now has more than 50,000 daffodils planted.
