Day 306: Traffic Jams - Oct 31. Day 3 of Hurricane Sandy A view from above of the traffic jams - cars lined up to get into the LIncoln Tunner.
Day 306: Stairwell - Oct 31. Day 3 of Hurricane Sandy. Stairwell emergency lights are on so folks can walk the stairs safely. News is spreading that a generator has been set up in the building lobby and hot coffee and power strips to charge cell phones are available there. Now - do I want that coffee badly enough to walk down 20 flights and back up? Temps outside are dropping and it is becoming quite cold inside. Worried about how to keep my two parrots warm. Only three people are on my side of the building on my floor so it is quite isolated up here.
Day 305: Still LIfe - Oct 30. Day 2 of Hurricane Sandy. Afternoon - No power meaning no lights, elevator, water, heat. Even our apartment stairwells do not have emergency lighting. No news, only what I can see below through my windows. Decided to stay positive and take a photo of something that I knew would be edible for a few days as my refrigerator gradually gave up its ability to keep things cold.
Day 305: Hurrican Sandy Hoboken NJ - Oct 30. Day 2 of Hurricane Sandy. The morning after a very spooky night with ferocious wind and rain. This is a view of flooding in norther Hoboken, viewed from my window, and this was not the area most significantly affected. This view is the western end of Hoboken almost a mile from the Hudson River.
Day 304: Hurrican Sandy Hoboken NJ - Oct 29. Day 1 of Hurricane Sandy. Rainy, windy all day but heavier and heavier as day goes on. Hudson River is churning, huge whitecaps which is rare, and water beginning to overflow the piers that I can see at the Northern end of Hoboken NJ. Cooked chicken in the frig and lots of water and fruit and flashlight batteries. Lights start flickering during early evening. Flashes from acoss the river in NYC look like lightning but suspect transformers going out. Finally lost power just after 6:00 PM in my area in one huge burst that left everything dark. This photo is looking out my apartment window at the Northern end of Hoboken which was in darkenss with the exception of a few car lights and emergency vehicle lights. Photo taken through my window and zooming the lens for effect.
Day 303: NYSkyline Night-PreStorm- Oct 29. Unusual night color in the skies over NYC at 10:30 last night.
Day 302: PInk Chrysanthemums - Oct 28. Pink mums for Breast Cancer Awareness Challenge.
Good luck to all those in the path of the huge storm approaching the East Coast. Keep safe.
Thanks to all who have commented on my images during this past week.
Day 301: Horse and Rider - Eye to Eye - Oct 27. A visit to a horse farm yesterday. This image full of rich color due to autumn foliage but decided to post with sepia tone to focus attention on the connection between the horse and rider.
Day 300: Palisades Interstate Park NJ - Oct 26. Yesterday was yet another cloudy, overcast day. Nice, though, to view and photograph the colorful foliage in the woods. With the threat of a big storm coming, only another day or two and the autumn display will be gone.
