NY Macy Fireworks 2012 : The Macy Fireworks theme for 2012 was "Ignite the Night" and the show did indeed do that with a stunning array of fireworks. Four barges were positioned along the Hudson River providing a spectacular view of fireworks with the New York skyline as a backdrop. These images provide a small slice of the effect of the entire scope of the show since I could only include one and sometimes two barges within the frame.

New York Sunrise : The New York Skyline at sunrise can be magical. The cloud formations, moisture and smog in the air, and position of the sun combine in new ways each day to offer an endless variety of scenes. These New York sunrise images are some of my favorites and include lower, midtown and upper Manhattan views. All images were taken from across the Hudson River in New Jersey.

New York Sundown : Sundown on the New York Skyline viewed from the West of the city in New Jersey is what I call the "Golden Hour." The setting sun transforms the grey and drab colors of the city buildings into a tapestry of golden shades and blue shadows that never fails to inspire me to take one more photo. All images in this New York skyline gallery were photographed from the New Jersey side of the Hudson River.

New York Night : The New York Skyline view at night is world famous. As the sun goes down, the lights begin to twinkle on in the city buildings and within moments the entire city skyline is aglow. The spires and tops of the skyscrapers compete with each other to draw one's attention and yet each is a significant, recognizable, irreplaceable element of the skyline view. This gallery contains images of the most well known skyscraper lighting and beautiful architecture as seen from the West of the city across the Hudson River in N.J. I hope to add many more.

Empire State Building Colors : This is a collection of images of the Empire State Building lighting. The traditional lighting at the top of the Empire State Building is white but throughout the year, the top of the building is lit in various color combinations to signify a special event, holiday, celebration or achievement. NY Boat Tour 2011 : New York City boat tours are a wonderful way to get a perspective of the many beautiful and historic buildings and sites in Manhattan and surrounding areas. The images in this gallery track the views seen on an hour and a half tour. Similar tours are available from several companieis. We departed from midtown and traveled down the Hudson River past views of midtown and the Chelsea Piers moving South to lower Manhattan and the World Financial Center buildings. The boat then followed the bend around the tip of lower Manhattan continued the route up the East River past the Wall Street area, under the Brooklyn, Manhattan and Williamsburg bridges until it reached the site of the United Nations building. On the return, we passed notable scenes such as the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and Liberty State Park in NJ. It was a great opportunity to take photos of scenes that can only be obtained from a water view.

NY Macy's Fireworks 2011 : Macy Fireworks display over the Hudson River July 4th 2011, From the moment that the sun began to set and the barges were being towed up the Hudson River to their positions until a rousing grand finale, the Macy Fireworks show captivated thousands of people along the waterfront. Six barges were in place to fire off 40,000 fireworks across a 2 mile stretch of the river. Awesome. Thank you Macys for having the show on the Hudson.

NY Macy's Fireworks 2010 : July 4th Macy Fireworks 2010 were held on the Hudson River and what a show it was!!.. Multiple barges were spread out along the river, simultaneously setting off identical fireworks bursts into the sky with the backdrop of the New York Skyline. Impossible to capture the scope of the spectacular display but I had great fun trying to record images within a small scope of the entire view. Enjoy!!!

NY Macy Fireworks 2009 : New York Skyline Macy's July 4th Fireworks. The 2009 Macy's fireworks display was held on the Hudson River to recognize the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson's discovery of the Hudson River. It was a rare treat for New Jerseyans to have this front row seat to view the fireworks. All photographs were taken from New Jersey.
